About the Book

Daran Kordal is inspecting a forgotten mountain road when the rain reveals a fresh mark cut into old stone.

It is the kind of mark his sister Runa used to make.

Runa disappeared twelve years ago, during the war. The road was closed. The maps moved on. Daran never did.

Now the old route is answering again. Old road magic responds where maps say nothing should remain. New repairs appear beyond broken bridges. Someone is maintaining a road that officially no longer leads anywhere.

Daran sets out with Temri Varek and Ressa Doven, who knows more about Runa's disappearance than she has ever admitted. But they are not the only ones following the road. Others see an abandoned route as something waiting to be claimed.

The farther they travel, the less the old story holds.

If a road survived by being forgotten, who has the right to bring it back?

A fantasy mystery about lost roads, family silence, old obligations, and what survives after history moves on.
