Who the Press Is

The press publishes academic philosophy and public philosophy with seriousness of argument and clarity of form. Through Onward Fiction, it also publishes science fiction and fantasy.

Three Publishing Lines

Academic Philosophy develops sustained inquiry into fundamental questions. Public Philosophy brings philosophical inquiry into the situations of ordinary life. Onward Fiction publishes science fiction and fantasy about changing civilizations, future worlds, other forms of intelligence, unfamiliar forms of life, and human choices under changing conditions.

Editorial Principles

The press values conceptual accuracy, clear argument, and careful editing. Public philosophy is not treated as self-help, therapy, motivational writing, or a set of techniques, and difficult questions are not replaced by quick answers. Onward Fiction treats story, character, and narrative momentum as primary; philosophical depth should emerge through fictional situations rather than explanatory exposition.

Languages and Editions

The press publishes in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Each language edition may speak naturally in its own language and reading habits, while preserving the basic question, argumentative structure, and strength of judgment.
