Bearing

A series on finitude, death, suffering, hope, conviction, love, goodness, and wisdom.

About the Series

Bearing begins with the conditions no life can avoid: finitude, death, suffering, hope, conviction, love, goodness, and wisdom. The series does not treat these themes as abstract topics only, nor as occasions for easy consolation. It asks how a person can continue to judge, act, love, and remain responsible when life cannot be made complete. Each book examines one boundary of human life and shows how bearing is not passive endurance, but the formation of direction under conditions that cannot be fully mastered.

Who This Series Is For

  • want to face finitude, loss, suffering, and incompleteness seriously, rather than move past them with easy answers;
  • are concerned with how human beings can continue to judge, bear responsibility, and live when life cannot be fully controlled;
  • want to follow an eight-book reading path through finitude, death, suffering, hope, conviction, love, goodness, and wisdom.
